YOUTH CLASS LEVELS

Infant/Toddler (ages 12 months to 3 years): This is for the child age 12 months to 3 years and requires a parent/guardian to be in the water with the child. Skills are developmental and age-appropriate. Class is based on participation and not Pass/Fail. Classes are 35 minutes long (9 lessons each session). Maximum enrollment is eight parent/child pairs.

Toddler/Preschool (ages 3 to 5 years): This is for the child age 3 to 5 and does not require the parent/guardian to be in the water. Skills are developmental and age-appropriate and many times exceed Level 1 and some Level 2 skills. Level A is for children who have no previous water experience, or they have previously taken Level A and are recommended to re-take Level A. Level B is for children who have had successful experience in Level A (or the previous program). Classes are limited to four to five children. Class is based on participation and not Pass/Fail. Level 3: Stroke Development : This is for the individual who has some propulsive skills and has passed Level 2. In this level, students learn to glide and tread water. Front Crawl and Back Crawl are developed. Elementary diving skills and dolphin kick are introduced as well as more personal safety skills.

Level 4: Stroke Improvement: This is for the individual who has passed Level 3. All previously learned strokes are reviewed and further developed.Breaststroke, Butterfly, and Elementary Backstroke are introduced and developed. Diving is further developed.
